Type Anatomy
Project Brief:
Create an animated sequence highlighting 5 characteristics of an iconic typeface. Consider how you will move from one characteristic to the next and how you can make stylistic choices appropriate to the typeface's context.
Motion design has been one of my many interests for a long time, so I was excited to take on this project. To analyse and dissect a type face as iconic as Garamond was a fun exercise in understanding the origins of type and how they have changed. I storyboarded and focused on a video that would highlight the quirks and intricate aspects of the typeface. Garamond is elegant while also being quite playful. I chose to highlight this using a bouncing ball and bright colours.
